Your tools stay in your browser

The light times, exposure, depth of field, filter and print calculations run entirely in your browser. The city you pick, the coordinates you type and the numbers you enter are not sent to us or anyone else.

Photos you drop on the print calculator

If you choose or drop a photo on the print size calculator, your browser reads its width and height on your device. The image is not uploaded, not stored and is gone when you leave the page.

Use my location

If you press Use my location, your browser asks your permission and then gives this page your approximate position. It is used only on your device to calculate the light; it is never uploaded. The coordinates are saved in your browser as your custom location so the next visit starts there; pick a city or clear this site's data to remove them. The site never asks for your location unless you press that button.

What is stored on your device

The site keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage: your colour theme, your city or coordinates and time zone, the 12- or 24-hour clock, the golden and blue hour definitions, and your last camera settings in each calculator. They never leave your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

Page view counts

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and never receives what you type, choose or drop in the tools.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Downloads and sound

Calendar files and tables are made on your device and saved straight to it. The ND filter timer's beep is generated on your device.

Links to other sites

Links to other websites, including the tools we recommend, are ordinary links. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
